The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan Volunteer Experience
We have a variety of volunteer experiences and times that can fit almost any schedule and can accommodate anyone from individuals up to large groups that want to give back to our community. Volunteers are critical to the mission and daily work of Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. Without your help, we simply could not reach out and help those in need.
Thank you for considering the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan for your volunteer time. We know that your experience in our mission will be one that you will never forget!
As part of the team you will make an important difference in the lives of many people. The work is highly satisfying and extremely meaningful. The staff has embraced a standard of excellence, shaping all that we do.
When working in a warehouse environment, closed toed shoes are required and we recommend sneakers or boots comfortable for working on cement floors. No one in open toed shoes or slip on shoes will be allowed to volunteer. Clothing should fit comfortable to move freely without showing skin. No tank tops, mid-driff baring tops, and no low-cut tops. When working in a warehouse, temperature can vary and layers are often more comfortable.
Groups must register with the Volunteer Coordinator for an event. The on-line registration is available for individuals and we encourage each volunteer to create a user profile to align their future volunteer experiences to the opportunities that arise throughout the year.
Volunteers must be at least 12 years of age to volunteer. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult chaperon.
